A native of Southern California, Nina started making images around the time she learned to use a pencil.
Beginning with drawing very detailed horses (for about 10 years), she eventually progressed to drawing all
sorts of things. Originally going to college as a graphic arts major, she fell in love with painting and
earned her BFA ('89) and MA ('92) in Painting and Drawing, with a concentration on the human figure, under
the tutelage of Don Lagerberg. She has also studied with Martha Erlebacher and John Nava. In the summer of
2003, she spent 6 weeks working and painting at Odd Nerdrum's studio in Stavern, Norway. She now lives in
Albany, NY with her 4 cats and 4 year old daughter, who is also a budding artist.
